At an elevation of 3,183 m (10,443 ft.), and with a prominence of 310 m (1,017 ft.), Mount Pétain is situated between the Rockies Provincial- and Elk Lakes Provincial Park, in British Columbia, as well as Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, in Alberta, Canada.
The mountain was given its name in 1918, honoring Marshal Philippe Pétain, who was regarded as a war hero by the World War I Allies.
