Telescope Peak is a mountain located in the state of California within Death Valley National Park. Standing at an elevation of 11,043 ft (3,366 m), it is the highest point in the Panamint Range and the highest point in Death Valley National Park.
Telescope Peak is a popular destination for hikers, and the round trip to the top can be completed in about 14 miles (23 km). The hike begins at Mahogany Flat campground and traverses a variety of landscapes, including desert, meadows, and forest, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The summit of Telescope Peak offers a panoramic view of Death Valley and the surrounding mountains. On a clear day, one can see the western horizon for the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the White Mountains, and the Panamint Valley. The spectacular view of Death Valley from the summit of Telescope Peak has been described as “one of the most spectacular views in the world.”
