At an elevation of 4,374 m (14,350 ft.), and with a prominence of 2,342 m (7,684 ft.), Khüiten Peak is the tallest peak in Mongolia, situated on the western edge of Mongolia, on the border with China. (Due to its prominence above 1,500 m, it is regarded as an Ultra mountain.)
Khüiten Peak was once known as “Friendship Peak,” but the name is also applied to Tavan Bogd Uul (the Mongolian name), a mountain that symbolizes the tri-border between Mongolia, Russia and China.
