At an elevation of 3,289 m (10,791 ft.), and with a prominence of 171 m (561 ft.), Hohe Wand, or Croda Alta, forms part of the Western Tauern Alps. It is situated in the administrative district of Innsbruck-Land in the province of Tyrol, Austria.
This mountain is not excessively challenging to climb; however, it can be tiring, and one should have considerable experience of climbing on rocks and ice. The descent is somewhat easier and more relaxing. The hike takes one past some ponds and lakes, and the final approach is marked by the Stampfkees glacier. There is a wooden cross on the summit which tells you that you have reached the top. For those with the required skills, it is possible to ski down from the summit of the mountain.
