At an elevation of 2,424 m (7,953 ft.), and with a prominence of 180 m (591 ft.), Hochspitz - Punta Alta is a mountain that forms part of the Eastern Rhaetian Alps and is situated in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, Italy.
This mountain is quite popular with mountaineers because of the elevation, so it presents a fair challenge to those who wish to climb it. Basic climbing gear is required and it is advisable that you have some prior experience in mountain climbing before attempting to scale the Hochspitz. Due to the extreme cold weather (near minus degrees Celsius in the summer months), you would do well to take sufficiently warm clothing. It is also advisable to carry some rainwear, as it does rain quite frequently, especially in the late summer.
There's a trail leading to the summit.
The nearest mountain hut is wildn-Hütte located 1 940m/6 364ft NE of the summit.
