At an elevation of 2,349 m (7,707 ft.), and with a prominence of 138 m (453 ft.), Cima di Valpianella (Piazzotti) is regarded as 'heaven on earth' by the numerous visitors who have climbed this peak due to the panoramic view that beholds them on the summit. The mountain is in the vicinity of the town of Morbegno, situated in a part of the province of Sondrio of Lombardy, Italy.
Although skiing is the primary activity in the Cima di Valpianella area, hiking is also very popular in the warmer months.
