At an elevation of 2,640 m (8,661 ft.), and with a prominence of 198 m (650 ft.), Cima della Gaiarda forms part of the Southern Rhaetian Alps. It is situated in the province of South Tyrol, Italy.
To climb Cima della Gaiarda, climbers can start their trek from the town of Andalo and follow a path known as Path 301. On reaching Malga Spora, one follows another path called Path 301b, which is in the vicinity of Passo della Gaiarda. At this point, one should see a valley formed by the Crozzon della Spora and the Crozzon dei Mandrini, and the path leads into the Mandrini Pass. On the left is a region of loose scree, so one needs to walk with care.
There are two approaches to the summit from this point – the first by continuing straight, towards the Val Perse, and climbing the peak from the south side, or by following the old river bed on the right through a few gullies and up to the top.
Cima della Gaiarda is not a difficult mountain to climb, but it is to be approached with caution due to the possibility of loose soil, rocks, and boulders. Recommended climbing gear such as ropes, mountain boots, and sticks should be sufficient to get one to the summit.
The nearest mountain hut is Malga Spora located 1 647m/5 403ft E of the summit.
