At an elevation of 2,655 m (8,711 ft.), and with a prominence of 296 m (971 ft.), Tullen is a mountain that forms part of the Dolomites and is situated in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, Italy.
Tullen or Monte Tullen as it is better known is challenging during the summer but rather difficult to climb in the winter months. However, it is during the colder months that movement on skis is best, so it is a popular destination for mountain skiing enthusiasts, even if they don’t have the ultimate objective of scaling the summit. A wooden cross has been installed on the summit, from which Sass de Putina and Pelmo can be seen in the east and the Puez and Odles towards the south. To the north you can see the Western Tauern Alps, the Vedrette di Ries and the Plose group.
In profile, the mountain looks like a round tower from the south side and has a classic mountain profile with a pointed top from the north side. The usual approach is from the south side, along the Günther Messner trail. The ascent begins gradually but becomes steeper with gravel and landslide debris creating challenging obstacles. The first person to climb Tullen was Hermann Delago in 1895.
There's a demading hiking trail (T3) leading to the summit. Tullen is one of the 3 peaks along the Günther-Messner-Steig.
The nearest mountain hut is Rodelalm located 1 345m/4 413ft undefined of the summit.
