At an elevation of 502 m (1,647 ft.), and with a prominence of 124 m (407 ft.), Glassy Mountain is an isolated Monadnock, (which is an isolated small mountain that rises quickly from a gentle slope), located close to Pickens, South Carolina, in the USA.
The mountain got its name from the fact that a small fountain of water springs on top of the mountain. This water trickles down the bare granite face of Glassy Mountain, giving it the trademark “glassy” appearance it's named after.
There's a trail called Glassy Mountain Trail leading to the summit.
