At an elevation of 393 m (1,289 ft.), and with a prominence of 210 m (689 ft.), El Toro (‘The Bull’ in Spanish), is a hill situated in the Santa Cruz Mountains. These mountains are located in Santa Clara County, in the state of California, United States.
El Toro is in part the property of Morgan Hill City, and because of that, the city merged the peak's shape into their emblem.
The naming of the mountain has quite an interesting legend attached to it. It is said that Bret Harte, a 19th-century American poet, was climbing the hill when he found two bulls fighting close to the summit. When they saw him, they chased him down El Toro hill. The poet after that named the peak, El Toro, which in Spanish means, ‘The Bull.'
There's a trail called Restricted leading to the summit.
