At an elevation of 6,542 m (21,463 ft.), and with a prominence of 2,845 m (9,334 ft.), Buni Zom is the highest peak of the Buni Zom group. Part of the Hindu Raj range, it is situated in the Chitral area in Pakistan.
Due to its prominence above 1,500 m, Buni Zom is considered an Ultra mountain. This is a unique feature, since there are only 1,524 such peaks on Earth.)
Buni Zom was ascended for the first time in 1957 by a New Zealand mountain climbing party, the CH Tyndale-Biscoe, and WKA Berry. A Japanese mountain climbing party followed suit in 1975, and the Americans in 1979.
