이 봉은 독자적인 명칭 없이 만경대, 망경봉 등 으로 불리우는 봉우리 이나 과거 국토지리정보원 에서 국토정보 전산화 작업 과정에 남쪽 방향 봉우리 들의 명칭을 하나씩 당겨 와 이 봉우리를 남대봉 으로, 남대봉 은 시명봉 으로 하는 오류를 만들어 명칭이 뒤섞이기 시작 헀고 이후 타 기관 들이 그 데이터를 참조하여 사용 하며 잘못 된 명칭이 현재 까지 혼재 되어 사용 되고 있음.
