At an elevation of 1,956 m (6,414 ft.), and with a prominence of 1,710 m (5,610 ft.), ultra mountain Montalto is the highest peak of the Aspromonte Massif. This massif is located in Southern Calabria in southern Italy.
Visitors in search of a spiritual and emotional journey will enjoy hiking Montalto since at its summit is located the Statue of the Redeemer.
Ancient pilgrims descending Mount Montalto used to end their hike at Polsi, where they came face to face with the Statue of Our Lady, sitting and waiting to hear their prayers. Today, pilgrims can still descend Montalto and say a prayer in front of the Statue of Our Lady.
There's a trail leading to the summit. Montalto is one of the 421 peaks along the multi-day Sentiero Italia.
