Klein Matterhorn (3,883 m) is a peak of the Pennine Alps, overlooking Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is the highest place in Europe that can be reached by aerial tramway or gondola lift that belongs to the international ski area “Zermatt/Breuil-Cervinia”. The views of the highest mountains in Italy, France and Switzerland are breathtaking from here.
The Klein Matterhorn is part of the Zermatt/Breuil-Cervinia ski area. The ski area on the Theodul Glacier is open 365 days a year and offers 21 km of ski runs and 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. The ski area is also home to the highest glacier palace in the world, which is located at an altitude of 3,883 meters above sea level. The ski area offers 322 km of blue, red, black and yellow runs. Guests can use modern lifts and cable cars, including the Matterhorn Glacier Ride. The supporting program of events includes ski races, freestyle contests, and après-ski parties.
The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car links the Trockener Steg station with the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise situated at 3,821 metres above sea level. It is the highest cable car station in Europe. The stylish 3S cable car, the highest in the world, links the Trockener Steg station with the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise situated at 3,821 metres above sea level, combining the latest technology and innovative design. Up to 2,000 passengers an hour can be carried in the 25 comfortable cabins, each with 28 seats. The ride requires three separate cable rides with changes at the Furi and Trockner Steg stations. The final cable arrives at a tunnel through the solid rock of the mountain.
