How do I open the 3D Map?
- Point the phone toward the ground and double‑tap the compass.
- Or tap the 3D Map button (top‑right).
- Return to AR by raising the phone to the horizon or tapping the labels button.
How do I plan a route?
- Open 3D Map, select a place (parking, hut, peak) → Plan Routes.
- Use Set Destination or Start Here for end/start.
- Save the route, export GPX, or create a Flyover.
Elevation profile, distance, ascent/descent are available in the route panel.
How do I find the best hikes nearby?
- In 3D Map tap the binoculars → Discover Mode.
- Filter by distance/elevation, check photos, save to profile.
How do I import/export GPX?
- Use Menu → Import → Import Trails or Bookmarks for GPX/KML/KMZ/IGC.
- Export: in route panel … → Share → Export as GPX.
- Send to Garmin via Share → Send to Garmin.
How do I add labels to a photo?
- Menu → Import → Photo Import, pick a GPS‑tagged photo.
- Align panorama, keep needed labels, save.
How do I enable Winter Mode and slope layers?
- In 3D Map open Topo layers (top‑right) and enable Winter.
- Also toggle Slope Angles and Aspects.
Device Integrations
Garmin: linking and navigating
- Pair your device in Garmin Connect (see Garmin Support).
- In PeakVisor: Menu → Import → Import from Garmin and sign in.
- Send a route via Share → Send to Garmin, then open it on the device.
Suunto: linking
- Install the Suunto app and pair your watch (see Suunto Support).
- In PeakVisor: Menu → Import → Import from Suunto → sign in and grant permissions.
Apple Health: linking
- On iPhone open Health and finish initial setup (pair Apple Watch if needed).
- In PeakVisor: Menu → Import → Import from Apple Health and allow reading workouts/routes.
Troubleshooting
Labels don’t align with the horizon
- On iOS enable: Settings → Privacy → Location Services and System Services → Compass Calibration.
- Switch to manual in the app and align the panorama.
- Use the sun as a reference and match it with the yellow circle.
Empty or blurry map
- Download offline maps: Menu → Map Coverage (HD Maps/layers as needed).
- Check “Wi‑Fi only” and device storage space.
Routes don’t build or don’t appear
- Set start/end (Start Here/Set Destination), try alternatives.
- Use Off‑trail and elevation profile to evaluate terrain.
GPX/KML import doesn’t work
- Verify format (GPX/KML/KMZ/IGC) and use “Share to PeakVisor”.
- Files will appear under Profile → Saved Trails or Bookmarks.
Garmin/Suunto/Health don’t sync
- Re‑authenticate under Menu → Import.
- Ensure accounts are linked and permissions granted.
Tracking lost a trail / records missing
- Check GPS/background activity permissions.
- Rarely: use Advanced Settings → Restore Recorded Track (on support advice).
No labels / low label density
- Zoom in; enable Advanced Settings → Enlarged Labels & Thick Silhouettes.
Sunrise/sunset shown instead of distance
Tap the sun icon in the info panel to toggle the display.
Flyover is choppy
Enable Advanced Settings → 60fps Flyover for smoother video.
Missing peak/lift/data
Use Edit Suggestions in the object card or email us at feedback@peakvisor.com.
