At an elevation of 537 m (1,762 ft.), and with a prominence of 442 m (1,450 ft.), Aydos Dağı is a hill in the region of Kartal district, situated in Istanbul, Turkey. The unique feature of this mountain is that it covered by forest at all sides. (The mountain is a part of the Taurus Mountains.)
The word “Aydos” comes from the Aydos Fortress built in the 6th century by the Roman Empire. This fortress is situated right next to the hill.
