At an elevation of 680 m (2,231 ft.), and with a prominence of 236 m (774 ft.), Ottenberg forms part of the Swiss Prealps. It is situated near the town of Frauenfeld in Weinfelden, which is in the canton of Thurgovia, Switzerland. In fact, it is the canton's high point.
As the mountain is not very high (in fact, it is no more than a hill), it doesn’t present a very challenging mountaineering experience, and one does not need to be an expert climber to hike up it.
Besides the mountain, the area of Bezirk Weinfelden offers some interesting activities such as visiting farms and wineries (especially in the Thur Valley, which is renowned for its wine).
