At an elevation of 1,438 m (4,718 ft.), and with a prominence of 987 m (3,238 ft.), Mount Hakone (Kami Yama) is a famous volcano, situated in Hakone, Kanagawa on Honshu Island, Japan.
The volcano of Mount Hakone had its last eruption more than 2,900 years ago. Due to this, two large calderas, (sinkhole-type depressions), formed on the mountain. In-between these calderas, Lake Ashi can be found. The highest point of Hakone is Kami-Yama.
