At an elevation of 642 m (2,106 ft.), and with a prominence of 180 m (591 ft.), Jabal Al-Nur, located near Mecca, is known as the “Mountain of Light.” Jabal Al-Nur, or sometimes spelled Al-Noor, is famous for the Hira Cave (Cave of Hira) and is based in the Hejaz region, Saudi Arabia.
The Cave of Hira located on Jabal An-Nur is an important part of Muslim culture. According to religious belief, the Prophet Mohammed visited the mountain quite a few times for meditation. It’s also believed that he had his first revelation here.
