Piz la Stretta, also known as Monte Breva, is situated on the border between Italy and Switzerland.
At an elevation of 3,104 m (10,184 ft), Piz la Stretta is part of the Livigno Alps. From the summit, hikers can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
From the Italian side, the most popular route to reach the summit starts from Livigno Valley, where you can drive by car. One route is from the road to Forcola (2,315 m), Valle della Forcola. Another route starts at a lower point at Campacciolo di Sopra (1,911 m) and passes the lake Lago del Monte at 2,605 m.
From the Swiss side, you can start from the Val da Fain to the Passo del Fieno (2,462m). Another route is from the Bernina pass along the Valle della Stretta or along the Valle della Forcola (closed in winter).
All these routes are easy to follow. The ski-tours to the summit follow slightly different paths .
No matter which route you choose, the views of Piz Bernina and other mountains and valleys from the summit of Monte Breva are spectacular.
