At an elevation of 2,128 m (6,982 ft.), and with a prominence of 585 m (1,919 ft.), Tomlishorn is the highest peak of the mighty Mount Pilatus, situated in Nidwalden, Switzerland.
There is a lot of debate about where the name comes from. It is alleged that the Biblical Pontius Pilate is buried here, but another mountain in Italy also claims that distinction. Another interesting story is that the dragon, Drago Pilu, lived on the mountain. And truly, there is a beautiful dragon path at the summit.
To reach the top, visitors can take one of the numerous hiking trails, or go by cable car, gondola or train. There are two hotels on the summit.
There's a hiking trail (T2) leading to the summit.
