At an elevation of 4,557 m (14,951 ft.), and with a prominence of 2,437 m (7,995 ft.), Ultra mountain, Mount Hubbard is the 8th highest peak in the USA and the 10th highest peak in Canada. It forms part of the Saint Elias Mountain Range and is located on the Alaskan / Yukon border in Canada.
Mount Hubbard was named after the first president of the National Geographic Society, Gardiner Greene Hubbard. This was done in 1890 by Israel Russel, a US Geological Survey Geologist. Climbers will find the western side of Mount Hubbard quite challenging to climb due to cliffs cutting down quite sharply. Technical climbing skills are required. It is better to take on the mountain from the eastern side to reach the summit. The east requires no technical skills.
