At an elevation of 4,289 m (14,072 ft.), and with a prominence of 272 m (892 ft.), Mount Columbia forms part of the Collegiate Peaks in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, northwest of the town of Buena Vista, Colorado, in the United States of America.
Mount Columbia was named after Columbia University in New York. It is one of Colorado’s 14ers but does not have a good reputation with climbers. The ascent is very steep and eroded, and the scree is slippery. From the top, there are great views over the remaining Collegiate Peaks.
There's an alpine trail (T4) called Mount Columbia West Slopes leading to the summit.
