At an elevation of 2,809 m (9,216 ft.), and with a prominence of 190 m (623 ft.), Hochgrubbachspitz, or Monte Gruppo, forms part of the Western Tauern Alps. It is situated in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, in the province of South Tyrol, Italy.
This mountain is considered a classic location in most mountaineering guides. It is a favorite ski destination. However, foggy weather can hamper one’s skiing plans, so it is wise to keep updated with local weather forecasts before venturing out.
Hochgrubbachspitz is rather difficult to climb, and the best way to get around is on skis. However, this mountain isn’t unseasoned mountain climbers or skiers.
There is a transit hut on the slopes of Monte Gruppo called the Tiefrastenhüttl, where climbers can get some respite from any severe weather during ascend or descend of Hochgrubbachspitz mountain.
There's a demading hiking trail (T3) leading to the summit.
The nearest mountain hut is Tiefrastenhütte located 1 151m/3 777ft ESE of the summit.
