Aiguille du Midi is a 3,842-meter mountain in the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps.
To reach the summit of Aiguille du Midi, you can take a cable car from Chamonix that holds the world record for the highest vertical ascent of 2807m (from 1035m to 3842m).
The cable car takes about 20 minutes from the heart of the Chamonix valley (1035m) to reach the 3777m of Aiguille du Midi.
At the top of Aiguille du Midi, you can enjoy unique attractions such as the Espace Vertical, which is the highest mountaineering museum ever built in the world, and the Espace Mont-Blanc where you can contemplate the mountain panorama well-sheltered behind large picture windows.
Another popular tourist attraction at Aiguille du Midi is “Step into the Void,” which is a glass room built around a metal frame that extends out over a 1,000-meter drop.
Aiguille du Midi is also a popular place for mountaineers and offers several routes for them.
There are several mountaineering routes that you can take to climb Aiguille du Midi. One way is to start from Punta Helbronner (reaching by cablebox from Courmayeur, Italy) and cross the Glacier du Geànt and the Vallee Blanche (about three hours).
Another way is to take an expert mountaineering route from Refuge des Cosmiques or Le 3842.
