SkiWelt is one of more than 400 ski resorts in Austria and one of more than 150 in Tyrol. It is located in the east of the state in the Wilder Kaiser Mountains of the larger Kaisergebirge group of the even larger North Tyrol Limestone Alps range of the Eastern Alps at an altitude between 620 and 1,869 m with a difference of 1,249 m. It is the nearest ski resort to Kitzbühel, the largest city to the east of the resort, however the bigger Salzburg is also not far away. The main feature of SkiWelt ski resort is its incredible diversity that combines geographical accessibility, 21 downhill runs, panoramic views of more than 70 peaks higher than 3,000 m, Igloo Village, three fun parks instead of just one, and 80 mountain huts. Not least of all, it is Austria’s leading resort for night skiing with 10 km of illuminated slopes. In total it has more than 260 km of slopes and more than 80 ski lifts. It is also in the top 5 ski resorts in the country by size. The resort is best suitable for easy and intermediate skiing — most of its slopes are blue and red in about equal proportions. For advanced skiers, the resort has just about 10 km of black slopes. The most common type of ski lift is a chairlift but also a gondola lift. The SkiWelt season is from early December to mid-April in general.
