Saalbach (Skicircus) is one of more than 400 ski resorts in Austria. It is located between the states of Salzburg and Tyrol in the Kitzbühel Alps of the larger Tyrol Schistose Alps range of the Eastern Alps at an altitude between 830 and 2,096 m with a difference of 1,266 m. It is the nearest ski resort to Salzburg, the namesake capital of the state. The main feature of Saalbach (Skicircus) ski resort is that it is the second-biggest in Austria with more than 250 km of slopes and more than 70 ski lifts in total. It is also known for its annual Freeride World Tour. The resort is best suitable for easy and intermediate skiing — most of its slopes are blue and red in about equal proportions. However, for advanced skiers, the resort also has almost 20 km of black slopes. The most common types of ski lifts are state-of-the-art gondola lifts such as "TirolS", for which it is also known, and chairlifts. The Saalbach (Skicircus) season is from late November to mid-April in general.
