Les Sybelles is one of more than 250 ski resorts in France. It is located in the Upper Savoy department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in the Vanoise Massif in the larger Graian Alps range of the Western Alps at an altitude between 1,100 and 2,620 m with a difference of 1,520 m. It is the nearest ski resort to the towns of Grenoble and Chambery. The main feature of Les Sybelles ski resort is that it is the third-biggest ski area in France and one of the biggest in Europe and the world with more than 300 km of slopes and more than 70 ski lifts in total after Les 3 Vallées and Les Portes du Soleil, not counting Montgenèvre — a "small" resort with more than 50 km of slopes in the mostly Italian Via Lattea ski area with more than 400 km of slopes. Les Sybelles is best suitable for intermediate skiers — most of its slopes are red. However, for easy and advanced skiing, it has more than 70 and 20 km of blue and black slopes, respectively. The most common type of ski lift is a chairlift. The Les Sybelles season is from mid-December to mid-April in general.
