Hafjell is one of more than 170 ski resorts in Norway. It is located in the Innlandet region in the central eastern part of the country in the Scandinavian Mountains at an altitude between 195 and 1,059 m with a difference of 864 m. It is the nearest ski resort to the town of Lillehammer, the place of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, northwest of Oslo. The second main feature of Hafjell ski resort is that it is the third-biggest ski area in Norway after Trysil and Oppdal, and together with Voss, Hemsedal, Hovden, and Kvitfjell, all of which has more than 40 km of slopes and more than 10 ski lifts in total. The resort is best suitable for easy skiers — most of its slopes are blue. For intermediate and advanced skiing, there are just less than 10 km of slopes combined. The most common type of ski lift is a chairlift. The Hafjell season is from early November to late April in general.
