Kvitfjell is one of more than 170 ski resorts in Norway. It is located in the Innlandet region in the central eastern part of the country in the Scandinavian Mountains at an altitude between 178 and 1,032 m with a difference of 854 m. It is the second nearest large ski resort to the town of Lillehammer, the place of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, northwest of Oslo, after Hafjell. The second main feature of Kvitfjell ski resort is that it is the third-biggest ski area in Norway after Trysil and Oppdal, and together with Voss, Hemsedal, already mentioned Hafjell, and Hovden, all of which has more than 40 km of slopes and more than 10 ski lifts in total. The third one is that it offers more than 600 km of cross country ski trails. The resort is best suitable for easy skiers — most of its slopes are blue. For intermediate skiing, there are just a bit more than 10 km of red slopes. The most common type of ski lift is a chairlift. The Kvitfjell season is from early November to late April in general.
