At an elevation of 5,152 m (16,903 ft.), and with a prominence of 818 m (2,684 ft.), Koshtantau is the tallest mountain of the Koshtan chain in the Caucasus Mountains, situated in the Kabardina-Balkaria Republic, Russia, near the Georgian border.
The first to climb Koshtantau was Herman Wooley and his team, in 1889.
