At an elevation of 7,893 m (25,896 ft.), and with a prominence of 1,633 m (5,358 ft.), Himalchuli is ranked as the 18th highest mountain in the world. It is furthermore the 2nd highest mountain of the Mansiri Himal (a sub-range of the Himalayas), which is part of the Nepalese Himalayas. Himalchuli is situated in Lamjung District, in the Gorkha-Gandaki Zone, Nepal.
Due to its prominence above 1,500 m, Himalchuli is considered an Ultra mountain. This is unique, since there are only 1,524 such peaks on Earth.
Mount Himalchuli was first ascended by Masahiro Harada and Hisashi Tanabe on 24 May 1960. Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu is not far away, approximately 106 km (66 miles) from Mount Himalchuli.
