St. Moritz–Corviglia is one of more than 350 ski resorts in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Grisons in the Eastern Switzerland region right between the Albula Alps and the Bernina Range of the larger Western Rhaetian Alps of the Eastern Alps at an altitude between 1,735 and 3,057 m with a difference of 1,322 m. It is the nearest ski resort to the town of St. Moritz, after which it is named. The main feature of St. Moritz–Corviglia ski resort is that it might just be the most famous in Switzerland and one of the most known in all the Alps, which is firmly associated with both winter and summer outdoor recreation in these mountains, and the Alpine culture in general. The year-round resort on the shores of the beautiful lake has historically attracted aristocrats and celebrities, and as a consequence, tourists from all over the world. The popularity of the resort is added by the Bernina Express, also the most famous Alpine high railway route, the final stop of which is in St. Moritz (the other is Tirano in Italy on the other side of the Bernina Range). The resort is also in the top 5 in Switzerland by size with more than 150 km of slopes and more than 20 ski lifts in total. It is best suitable for intermediate skiers — most of its slopes are red. However, for easy and advanced skiing, the resort offers more than 30 km of blue and black slopes each. The most common types of ski lifts are a chairlift and a T-bar. The St. Moritz–Corviglia season is from early December to early April in general.
