Kitzbühel (KitzSki) is one of more than 400 ski resorts in Austria and one of more than 150 in Tyrol. It is located in the east of the state in the namesake Kitzbühel Alps group of the larger North Tyrol Limestone Alps range of the Alps at an altitude between 800 and 2,000 m with a difference of 1,200 m. It is the nearest ski resort to the town of Kitzbühel, around which it is formed, but the city of Salzburg is not far away. The main features of Kitzbühel (KitzSki) ski resort are that it offers more than 45 km of cross-country ski routes, 10 free-of-charge practice lifts, and "some of the most outstanding spa facilities in the entire Alps". It is also in the top 5 resorts in Austria by size with more than 180 km of slopes, which have won several awards, and more than 50 ski lifts in total. The resort is best suitable for easy skiing — most of its slopes are blue. However, for intermediate and advanced skiers as well, the resort has more than 60 and 20 km of red and black slopes, respectively. The most common type of ski lift is a chairlift. The Kitzbühel (KitzSki) season is from late November to mid-April in general.
