Wotton Hill (grid reference ST753942) is a privately owned hill located on the edge of the Cotswold Hills in Gloucestershire, England, UK, 0.5 miles (0.80 km) north of Wotton-under-Edge. The views opening from the hill allow you to see well across the Severn and into Wales. On a clear day you can see both Severn Bridges. There is the Cotswold Way passing over the hill, but since the hill is a private property, walking the premises might not be allowed to the general public.
Nearby are located two nature reserves that cover two of the five Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty units.
One belongs to the National Trust, it is a secluded country estate upon the Cotswold escarpment, providing garden strolls and woodland walks.
The other (Unit 2 according to Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty units classification) is called Old London Road reserve and is owned by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. This one-hectare reserve is situated at the top of the Old London Road. It safeguards the only two remaining British locations of limestone woundwort that has become almost extinct due to abundant nettles growth. Now nettles are kept under control and the hedgerow is laid.
Should you wish to enquire more about the history of Wotton Hill and nearby area, visit Wotton-under-Edge village Heritage Centre.
The landmarks in the vicinity of the hill also include the Jubilee Pines and Tyndale Monument - a hilltop tower built to commemorate the local hero William Tyndale, the martyred 16th century Bible translator.
There's a trail leading to the summit.
