Mount Baw Baw is one of 8 ski resorts in Australia. It is located in the state of Victoria in the southeast of the country in the Great Dividing Range at an altitude between 1,450 and 1,560 m with a difference of 110 m. The main feature of Mount Baw Baw ski resort is that unlike all others in Australia, which are located in the Australian Alps to the north, it is posted on the Baw-Baw Plateau of the same aforementioned range, which means more open space, despite the much smaller length of the slopes. The plateau is named after its highest peak, Mount Baw Baw (1,567 m / 5,141 ft). It is also the nearest ski resort to Melbourne, the second largest city of the country after Sydney. The resort has more than 10 km of slopes and more than 5 ski lifts in total. The resort is best suitable for easy skiing — most of its slopes are blue. The most common type of ski lift is a chairlift. The Mount Baw Baw season is from mid June to late September in general.
