Grandvalira is the largest of three ski resorts in Andorra, a tiny state in Europe, which is located between Spain and France in the south of the Pyrenees. The resort’s altitude is between 1,710 and 2,640 m with a difference of 930 m. It is the nearest ski resort to Andorra la Vella, the capital of the state, but also to the Spanish capital of tourism, Barcelona. The main feature of Grandvalira ski resort is that it is the biggest in the entire Pyrenees, with more than 210 km of slopes and more than 70 ski lifts in total, overtaking the largest resorts of more famous neighbors in the same range. The resort is best suitable for easy and intermediate skiing — most of its slopes are blue and red in about equal proportions. However, for advanced skiers as well, the resort has more than 30 km of black slopes. The most common types of ski lifts are a chairlift and a T-bar. The Grandvalira season is from early December to mid-April in general.
