Glencoe Mountain is one of 5 real ski resorts in the UK, all of which are located in Scotland in the Grampian Mountains, the main central range of the region. The resorts' altitude is between 360 and 1,070 m with a difference of 710 m — the most vertical drop of all 5 resorts. It is one of the most popular areas for skiing near Edinburgh and Glasgow. The main feature of Glencoe Mountain ski resort is that it is the oldest alpine ski area in Scotland built in 1955 on the northern slope of the Meall a' Bhùiridh (1,108 m / 3,635 ft), its main mountain, so the resorts' name comes from the nearest village. Now it is also the third-biggest ski resort of all the resorts in the UK with more than 20 km of slopes and more than 10 ski lifts in total. The resort is best suitable for intermediate skiing — most of its slopes are red. However, for east and advanced skiing, it has just a bit less km of blue and black slopes. The most common type of ski lift is a chairlift. The Glencoe Mountain season is from mid-December to early April in general.
