Maasai Mara National Reserve is one of the main protected areas in Kenya, a country in East Africa. The main feature of the reserve is that it is one of the two largest so-called game reserves in the African savannah on par with the neighboring Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Like the park, the reserve is the place with the continent's biggest population of all known large African animals as well as the place of their annual migration. Two other features in the park's name are the villages of the local Maasai tribe and the largest local river, the Mara. There are 19 named mountains in Maasai Mara National Reserve. The highest and the most prominent mountain is Loisekin (2,087 m / 6,847 ft).
