Komodo National Park is one of 54 national parks in Indonesia, an island country in Southeast Asia and Oceania north of Australia. The main feature and reason for the park's creation is the Komodo Dragon, the world's largest lizard, capable of scaring anyone with its sight. The park is also famous in terms of its geography. It is situated on an archipelago of 29 mountainous islands, the three largest of which are namesake Komodo, Padar, and Rinca. They are part of the larger Lesser Sunda Islands, which include Bali, Lombok, and others. There are 24 named mountains in Komodo National Park. The highest and most prominent mountain is Gungung Ara (808 m / 2,651 ft).
