Åre Högzon is one of three ski resorts of a larger ski area known under the common name Åre, which in turn is one of more than 250 in Sweden (the other two are Åre Björnen, and Åre By). It is located in the Jämtland County in the central western part of the country on the border with Norway in the Scandinavian Mountains. The resort is best suitable for easy and intermediate skiing — most of its slopes are blue and red. For advanced skiers, it has less than 10 km of black slopes. The most common type of ski lift is a chairlift. The Åre season is from mid-November to early May in general.
