Piz Amalia is a mountain located in the Sesvenna Range in Switzerland, with an elevation of 2,918 meters (9,573 feet) above sea level.
The mountain is known for its name after Princess Amalia of the Netherlands, who was born in 2003. The mountain was named in her honor in 2004 by the municipality of Scuol in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland, to strengthen ties with the Netherlands. Princess Amalia is the heir apparent to the Dutch throne, and at the time of the mountain's renaming, she was only one year old.
The "Piz Amalia Music Festival" happens in September in the mountain area. It involves the participation of young students from the Young Talent School of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague.
Piz Amalia is untouched and pristine natural environment. It is home to a variety of wildlife, including chamois, ibex, marmots, and golden eagles. The area is also known for its wildflowers, which bloom in the summer months.
